Celtic Fayre makes tasty entrance to Feast events
Aviemore was
at the centre of a mouthwatering double bill of delicious Celtic
cuisine combined with traditional music and glitzy entertainment
at the weekend as Highland Feast arrived.
Macdonald Aviemore
Highland Resorts Osprey Arena was the stage on Sunday for a brand
new event in the Highland Feast programme as the village hosted
the first ever Celtic Fayre, an international food showcase bringing
together some of the finest cuisine from Wales, Northern Ireland
and the Highlands.
The
event featured six food and drink producers from Wales and six from
Ireland together with a doxen of the Highlands top producers.
The event which
tied in with the inaugural AViemore half marathon also served up
slices of Celtic culture to accompany the food with traditional
music played throughout the day by folk rock bands Blasta from Northern
Ireland and Myneduad am Ddim form Wales.
Mr
Tony Davies, managing director of Strangford Lough Brewing Company
based in County Down in Northern Ireland, said that he had really
enjoyed the day. "Celtic Fayre is a great idea which
highlights just how much there is to celebrate between the Celtic
nations from the variety of products on show to the atmosphere and
good craic".
"You never
know where your next customer will come from, so it was great that
the stall holders and visitors all got an tremendously well and
we made plenty of excellent connections which is very important
to businesses like ours. We'd definitely come back again"
