Strangford
Lough Brewing Company is based in the historic Killyleagh
area of County Down in Northern Ireland. The lough or
lake was the burial place of a Viking king, Magnus, known
as Barelegs, who wielded a powerful sword called Legbiter.
The area is also strongly associated with St Patrick,
who not only brought Christianity to the island but who
was also a keen brewer. Our ranges of beers are all named
after these historical Irish characters.
Magnus Barelegs, has two beers named after him; Barelegs
Brew and Legbiter, the name of his sword. Approximately
2 miles from Magnus's grave St Patrick is buried. Three
beers are named in his honour, St Patrick's Gold, St Patrick's
Best and St Patrick's Ale. |
