O'Neill's Announces Champion
of the Beer
Following
the successful All Ireland Beer Festival held at O’Neill’s
throughout November, the Irish pub chain has announced the winning
guest beer that the majority of customers raised their glasses to.
After
collecting nearly a third of all votes cast across the November
beer festival, Strangford Lough Brewing Company’s ‘Legbiter’
was crowned champion of the beers over five other Irish ales. It
will now be served at O’Neill’s alongside current favourites,
such as Guinness®, Jameson, Bushmills and Magners.
Legbiter
is described as a golden ale with an inviting citrus fragrance due
to the late addition of Golding hops. The fine hop and light malt
aromas carry through to the palate, creating an ale that is full
but refreshing. The beers original name is derived from the sword
of King Magnus called ‘Legbite’, the 11th century King
of Norway who fought battles with the Irish army and controlled
segments of land across the Emerald Isle.
Sarah
Taylor, brand manager at O’Neill’s, commented: “The
November festival was a real treat for beer lovers who wanted to
sample a true flavour of Ireland’s rich brewing history. It
was a tough call for our customers as each of the six guest beers
had their own unique appeal, but in the end Legbiter won the crowd
over, and we are sure that it will be a popular addition to the
line-up of beers at O’Neill’s.”
The M&B owned O'Neills chain of pubs have selected SLBC to provide
3 beers for their exciting 'All Ireland Beer Final' promotion from
the 19th to 25th November 2006.
O'Neills
considers SLBC to be one of the leading independent brewing companies
in Ireland and has chosen the best selling 'Barelegs Brew' and 'St.
Patrick's Ale' as well as the popular 'Legbiter' for the promotion.
Customers
of O'Neillls will be encouraged to try the beers and vote for the
ones they like best. If you like OUR beers go along to your nearest
O'Neills and support us; you will have a great time in great pubs
with great beer! O'Neills is also offering a prize of a trip to
Ireland!
The
news gets even better as after the promotion O'Neills will continue
to stock 'Barelegs Brew' on a permament basis.
